Inflation is currently the biggest social concern in Finland, according to a survey result released by the country's General Unemployment Fund (YTK) on Monday, reported Xinhua.
"Inflation is by far the biggest concern of our members: it was chosen by no less than 45 percent of respondents. Many homes are thinking about how to survive winter and uncertain times," said Auli Hanninen, CEO of YTK.
Young people are most worried about rising prices, with as many as 66 percent of 18-24 year-olds choosing inflation as their top concern. On average, the younger the respondents were, the more they worried about price increases.
More than half of respondents said they had responded to price spikes by cutting consumption, and trying to save money.
Other respondents were looking for better-paying jobs, asking for salary increases, or increasing their workload.
Only 22 percent of respondents said inflation had not affected their work or everyday life.
The second most worrying issue for survey respondents was the Ukraine crisis, while the third was energy availability.
Meanwhile, 25-34 year-olds were the most worried about climate change. For six percent of respondents among this age group, climate change was their main concern.
The survey was carried out between Oct. 27 and Nov. 3, among 16,866 YTK members of working age.
The General Unemployment Fund (YTK), which has more than 400,000 members, is the largest unemployment fund in Finland.
