Trade balance posts €330m deficit in Sep

The trade balance was in deficit of EUR 330 million in September, according to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods provided by Finnish Customs on Monday.

In January-September, the aggregated deficit amounted to EUR 9.4 billion.

In September 2021, the trade balance was EUR 96 million in surplus and in January-September of the same year, the aggregated deficit was EUR 2.8 billion.

The value of Finnish exports increased by 8.0 per cent, and the value of imports by 14.6 per cent in September year-on-year.

The value of Finnish exports in September was EUR 7.2 billion and the value of imports EUR 7.5 billion. During the reference month in 2021, the value of exports increased by 34.2 per cent and of imports by 21.4 per cent.

In January-September 2021, the total value of exports increased by 22.7 per cent and the value of imports by 34.2 per cent year-on-year.

Exports to EU member states increased by 2.7 per cent, and exports to non-EU countries by 15.5 per cent in September.

Imports from EU countries increased by 16.1 per cent and imports from non-EU countries by 12.8 per cent.

Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to EU countries rose by 27.0 per cent and to non-EU countries by 17.4 per cent.

During the same period, imports from EU member states rose by 23.9 per cent and from other countries by 49.1 per cent.
