Industrial output grows in September

Seasonally adjusted industrial output (TOL BCD) grew by 1.3 per cent in September from the month before, according to Statistics Finland.

Industrial output adjusted for working days was 4.0 per cent higher in September 2022 than in September 2021.

In September, industrial output increased in nearly all examined main industries from the month before.

The electrical and electronics industry grew most, by 6.9 per cent compared to August.

In electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, output went up by 4.0 per cent and in the forest industry by 1.5 per cent from the previous month. In the other main industries, the changes were under one per cent. Output decreased slightly only in mining and quarrying, by 0.1 per cent compared to the previous month.

Compared to the year before, output increased most in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, by 11.4 per cent. In the forest industry, output went up by 6.4 per cent, in the metal industry by 5.5 per cent and in the electrical and electronics industry by 4.1 per cent compared to September 2021.

In mining and quarrying, output decreased by 9.8 per cent. In the food industry, output went down by 2.3 per cent and in the chemical industry by 0.4 per cent from the previous year.
