Fewer new building permits granted in Q3

Building permits for newbuilding were granted in July to September 2022 for a total of 7.8 million cubic metres, which was two per cent less than one year ago, according to Statistics Finland.
Thirty-three per cent fewer building permits were granted for residential building projects than one year ago. In July to September, 31 per cent fewer building projects were started than one year earlier.
In July to September 2022, building permits were granted for a total of 6,084 dwellings, which was 33 per cent fewer than one year earlier.
The cubic volume of building permits granted for other than residential buildings grew by 16 per cent in July to September 2022 from one year ago.
Altogether 31 per cent fewer building projects were started in July to September 2022 than one year earlier.
In July to September, the constant-price value or the volume of ongoing building production decreased by two per cent year-on-year.
The volume of residential building construction increased by three per cent and that of other than residential building construction decreased by six per cent from one year earlier.
