Building costs rise by 5.3% in December Y-on-Y

Building costs rose by 5.3 per cent in December 2022 from one year back, according to Statistics Finland.

Among materials, the biggest increases in the year were recorded in heat insulation (17.8%) and heat, water and sewer materials (17.1%).

The fall in the costs of timber structures continued and the change from the previous year was minus 7.6 per cent.

The costs of materials rose by 8.5 per cent from one year back.

The prices of services increased by 4.8 per cent from one year ago.

Costs decreased most per month in precast concrete units (minus1.2%).

The total index went up by 0.1 per cent from the month before.
