Prices of old dwellings on wane in Jan

Prices of old dwellings in housing companies decreased throughout Finland in January 2023, according to Statistics Finland.

In the whole country prices went down by 5.3 per cent from the previous year and by 2.4 per cent from December.

Of large towns, prices fell most in Oulu, Vantaa and Helsinki. Prices in Tampere remained almost on level with the previous year.

Prices of old dwellings in housing companies fell by 6.4 per cent in Greater Helsinki in January from one year ago. Prices went down by 1.6 per cent from the previous month.

Prices fell by 5.5 per cent year-on-year in the six largest towns. Prices went down by 4.8 per cent outside large towns.

Prices of dwellings in blocks of flats fell in the whole country by 5.8 per cent and prices of dwellings in terraced houses by 3.9 per cent compared to one year ago.

Among large towns, prices of dwellings fell least in Tampere and Turku.

In January, 38 per cent fewer sales of old dwellings in blocks of flats and terraced houses were made through real estate agents than one year earlier.
