Meat production drops by 4% in 2023

Meat production in 2023 was 389 million kilograms or 4 percent lower compared to the production in the previous year, said the Natural Resources Institute Finland –Luke in a release on Wednesday.

Although the production of beef increased by 2 percent in 2023, the productions of pork, poultry meat and mutton decreased by 7 percent, 2 percent and 9 percent respectively than the productions in 2022.

Production of all types of meat fell in December, with 7% less meat produced than in the same period of last year.

In December 2023, the productions of beef and port fell by 8 % each while productions of poultry and mutton decreased by 5 % and 14 % percent respectively than the productions in 2022.
