89 to lose jobs, 114 to affect as Valio ends negotiation talks

Finnish dairy production and processing company Valio decided to cut 89 jobs across the country, said the company in a press release on Tuesday.

The company completed the codetermination talks, which started in late January and finalized that 114 more employees will be also affected.

The employees engaged in the operational works at Valio's head office, production-supporting technical services, maintenance and factory services will be affected.

Valio employs a total of about 4,300 people including 3,700 in Finland.

The company said that the worsening global economic situation reflected in Valio's business, which prompted to company to reduce the workforces considering the financial situation.

Marianne Tammela, Director Human Resources said that the move will help the company to earn commercial viability and ensure the continuation of its production.
