Turnover of construction drops by 8.3% in March Y-o-Y

The working day adjusted turnover of construction enterprises decreased by 8.3 per cent in March 2024 compared to the previous year, according to Statistics Finland.
The volume of sales, from which the impact of price changes has been eliminated, went down by 6.2 per cent.
The decline in construction was most affected by the weak development of turnover and sales volume in building construction.
The turnover and sales volume of construction decreased in most industries.
In March 2024, working day adjusted turnover in construction of buildings fell by 16.1 per cent and sales volume by 14.6 per cent compared to one year ago.
In turn, working day adjusted turnover in civil engineering increased by 5.8 per cent and sales volume by 3.5 per cent from the previous year.
The values of civil engineering are generally lower at the beginning of the year, so the growth must be interpreted against this background.
Turnover in specialised construction activities went down by 4.0 per cent and sales volume by 2.4 per cent from one year ago.
Seasonally adjusted turnover in construction increased by 0.2 per cent in March compared to February. Seasonally adjusted sales volume increased by 0.2 per cent in March from February.
