Resumption of power generation at the Olkiluoto 1 (OL1) nuclear plant after the annual outage will be delayed until June 16 due to a glitch detected in the generator, said the owner of the plant Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) in a press release on Saturday.

The plant went under service outage on May 12 and was initially scheduled to be completed by May 28.

TVO said that the extension is due to a fault detected in the generator during the maintenance.

Detailed investigations and repair plans for the fault have been initiated immediately. The generator converts the turbine's kinetic energy into electricity.

Olkiluoto 2 and Olkiluoto 3, which have already completed their maintenance, are producing electricity normally. Currently, they are generating electricity at a capacity of about 2,460 MW.

The resumption of power generation at the Olkiluoto 2 nuclear power plant was delayed by one day due technical problems.

The OL3 nuclear power plant resumed operation on May 16, which also delayed by several times due to glitches.
