Electricity production at Olkiluoto 3 (OL3) nuclear power plant was interrupted on Monday due to a turbine malfunction, said the owner of the plant Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) in a press release on Monday.

The disturbance detected at the turbine facility automatically at 11:41a.m.

In the investigations immediately initiated after the situation, the cause was found to be a failure in the differential pressure measurement of the generator's sealing oil and hydrogen coolant.

The plant unit is expected to return to production during the night between Monday and Tuesday.

The plant operated as designed based on safety protocols during the incident.

The measurement data has now been restored to operation.

According to the current assessment, the plant unit will return to production during the night.

The incident had no impact on nuclear safety.

Earlier on May 16, the Olkiluoto 3 (OL3) nuclear power plant returned to electricity production after 74-day outage.
