Building costs drop slightly in July Y-on-Y

Building costs decreased by 0.1 per cent in July 2024 from one year back, according to Statistics Finland.

Among materials, the biggest increases in the year were recorded in soil (5.4%) and timber structures (3.8%).

Costs decreased most in the year in steel structures (9.0%) and precast concrete units (7.0%).

The prices of labour increased by 1.8 per cent while the costs of materials decreased by 1.1 per cent from one year back.

The costs of services decreased by 2.0.

The total index went down by 0.2 per cent from the month before.
