Turnover of construction drops by 5.5% in July Y-on-Y

The working day adjusted turnover of construction enterprises decreased by 5.5 per cent in July 2024 compared to the stipulated month of the previous year, according to Statistics Finland.

The volume of sales, from which the impact of price changes has been eliminated, went down by 3.1 per cent.

The decline in construction was most affected by the weak development of turnover and sales volume in building construction.

The turnover in civil engineering was growing despite the decrease in turnover of total construction.

In July 2024, working day adjusted turnover in construction of buildings fell by 9.7 per cent and sales volume by 6.9 per cent compared to one year ago.

In turn, working day adjusted turnover in civil engineering increased by 6.3 per cent and sales volume by 3.7 per cent from the previous year.

Turnover in specialised construction activities decreased by 6.1 per cent and sales volume went down by 3.1 per cent from one year ago.

Seasonally adjusted turnover in construction increased by 1.0 per cent in July 2024 compared to June. Seasonally adjusted sales volume increased by 0.8 per cent from June.
