Electricity production at the Olkiluoto 2(OL2) nuclear power plant remained suspended from Monday morning due to increased moisture detected in the generator of the turbine plant, said the owner of the plant Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) in a press release.
The power reduction began at around 7:30 a.m.
The authority already started the troubleshooting and according to the best current estimate, OL2's electricity production can resume at the earliest on September 29.
This estimate is based on TVO's previous experience with generator faults, but it may be updated as troubleshooting progresses. Investigation of the issue has begun
OL2's nominal capacity is 890 MW. The share of electricity produced by OL2 in Finland's total electricity consumption is approximately 8 percent.
At Olkiluoto, the OL1 and OL3 plant units are operating normally.
