Building costs drop slightly in August

Building costs decreased by 0.4 per cent in August 2024 from one year back, according to Statistics Finland.

The costs of materials decreased by 0.8 per cent in August 2024 from one year back while the costs of services decreased by 2.0 per cent.

Among materials, the biggest increases in the year were recorded in timber structures (5.1%).

Costs decreased most in precast concrete units (6.5%) and steel structures (5.9%).

The total index went down by 0.2 per cent from the month before.
