Nordea staff barred from investing in bitcoin

Nordea, the biggest bank in the Nordic countries decided to impose an embargo on its employees from investing bitcoin, reported the national broadcaster Yle quoting the news agency Reuters.

Terming such investment risky, the bank authorities also asked the bank’s employees to refrain from investing in other cryptocurrencies.

Nordea said its workers would not be permitted to invest in cryptocurrencies like bitcoin. The ban will enter into force from February 28 and will be applicable for about 31,000 employees of the bank across the world.

The bank authorities, however, said that they would not compel the employees who already own cryptocurrencies to sell them, said the Reuters report.
