The Olkiluoto 2 (OL2) nuclear power plant resumed electricity generation on Sunday at a reduced capacity after a production outage of 28 days, said owner of the plant Teollisuuden Voima Oyj (TVO) in a press release.
The plant unit was synchronized back to the national power grid in the morning at 5:26 a.m.
The power generation, however, resumed at a reduced capacity of 725 MW, down from its full output of 890 MW following the installation of a spare generator rotor.
Electricity production at the Olkiluoto 2(OL2) nuclear power plant remained suspended since September 9 due to increased moisture detected in the generator of the turbine plant.
The faulty water-cooled rotor in the generator has been replaced and the power ramp-up is scheduled to take about 30 hours.
