110 to lose jobs, 1600 to affect as UPM starts negotiation talks

The Finnish forest industry company UPM Fibres started a negotiation talks with the view to reduce 110 employees, said UMP in a press release on Monday.
The change negotiations cover about 1,600 employees in the UPM Pulp operations in Finland, UPM Forest and UPM Timber.
The change negotiations will also include possible temporary layoffs in the UPM Pulp operations in Finland and in UPM Timber.
The possible temporary layoffs could take place according to the market situation, if and as needed, between 1 January 2025 and 30 June 2025.
Any temporary layoffs could be implemented in stages and could last in total a maximum of 90 days.
