Building costs drop slightly in Sep Y-on-Y

Building costs decreased by 0.5 per cent in September 2024 from one year back, according to Statistics Finland.

Among materials, the biggest increases in the year were recorded in timber structures (4.3%).

Costs decreased most in steel structures (7.6%) and precast concrete units (6.8%).

Labour input costs rose by 0.4 per cent in September while the costs of materials decreased by 1.0 per cent from one year back.

The costs of services decreased by 1.7 per cent.

The total index went down by 0.2 per cent from the month before.
