Foreign background workers in Finland earn lower salary than natives

The foreign background workers in Finland generally earn about 15 percent lower hourly salary compared to the local Finnish, according to Statistics Finland.
The scenario is different only in the case for specialists where the earning of foreign background employees was higher than the locals during the recent years.
The median hourly wage of the foreign background workers was 16.75 euros in 2022 while the hourly wage of local Finns was 19.61 euros.
Senior statisticians of the Statistics Finland Hanna Jokimäki and Johanna Arvonen in an article published in Finnish said that that people with foreign backgrounds were very often employed in lower-paid professions compared to the their Finnish counterparts.
In the specialist category the earning of foreign background workers was 3.7 percent higher in 2022 than the local Finnish employees.
