Building costs drop slightly in Oct Y-on-Y

Building costs decreased by 0.1 per cent in October 2024 from one year back, according to Statistics Finland.

Among materials, the biggest increases in the year were recorded in soil (4.5%) and timber structures (4.2%).

Costs decreased most in roofing materials (4.9%) and steel structures (2.9%).

Labour input costs decreased by 0.1 per cent from one year back while the costs of materials rose by 0.2 per cent.

The costs of services decreased by 1.9 per cent from one year back.

The total index rose by 0.1 per cent from the month before.
