Trade balance posts €45m surplus in Nov

The trade balance was in surplus of EUR 45 million in November, according to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods published by Finnish Customs on Wednesday.
In January-November, the aggregated deficit amounted to EUR 2.1 billion. In November 2023, the trade balance was EUR 1.6 billion in surplus and in January-November of the same year, the aggregated surplus was EUR 32 million.
The value of Finnish exports decreased by 26.4 per cent in November year-on-year. The value of Finnish exports was EUR 6.0 billion. Export volume decreased by 24.5 per cent and export prices decreased by 1.8 per cent year-on-year.
A ship delivery of 1.9 billion euros in the reference month of November 2023 contributed to the large fall in the change of total exports.
The value of imports decreased by 8.9 per cent in November and was EUR 6.0 billion. Import prices declined by 0.7 per cent and import volume decreased by 6.6 per cent compared to November 2023.
In January-November 2024, the aggregated value of exports decreased by 6.6 per cent and the value of imports by 3.7 per cent year-on-year.
Change of export volume during the latest 12 months was minus 4.8 per cent (12 month moving average December 2023 – November 2024). The corresponding figure for import volume was minus 3.6 per cent.
Value of exports to EU member states decreased by 6.4 per cent, and to non-EU countries by 43.1 per cent in November compared to the same month the previous year.
The volume of exports to EU countries decreased by 2.4 per cent and to non-EU countries by 44.9 per cent during the same time.
Calculated from the beginning of the year, value of exports to EU countries decreased by 4.1 per cent and to non-EU countries by 9.9 per cent.
The volume of exports to EU member states decreased by 0.5 per cent, and the volume of exports to non-EU countries decreased by 11.0 per cent calculated according to 12-month moving average.
Value of imports from EU countries decreased by 5.8 per cent and from non-EU countries by 13.1 per cent in November. The volume of imports from EU member states decreased by 5.0 per cent and from non-EU countries by 6.6 per cent.
Calculated from the beginning of the year, value of imports from EU member states decreased by 3.0 per cent and from other countries by 4.6 per cent. The volume of imports from EU member states decreased by 3.1 per cent, and the volume of imports from non-EU countries by 1.2 per cent calculated according to 12-month moving average.
