New car registration drops by 13% in January

A total of 5,744 new passenger cars were registered in Finland in January 2025, which was 13 per cent fewer than one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

In all, 9,848 new vehicles were registered in January. First registrations decreased by 11 per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.

Of first-time registered passenger cars, 29 per cent were fully electric. The number of electric car registrations was 1,640, or 3 per cent higher than one year earlier.

A total of 2,455 new petrol-fuelled passenger cars were registered in January, which was 19 per cent fewer than one year earlier.
