New car registration on wane in Finland

A total of 6,173 new passenger cars were registered in March 2025, which was 5 per cent fewer than one year earlier, according to Statistics Finland.

In all, 10,903 new vehicles were registered in March. First registrations decreased by one per cent from the corresponding month of the previous year.

In January to March period of 2025, a total of 16,704 new passenger cars were registered, which was 9 per cent fewer than one year earlier.

Out of the first-time registered passenger cars in March, 39 per cent were fully electric. The number of electric car registrations was 2,434, or 31 per cent higher than one year earlier.

Used imported passenger cars numbered 3,724, which was 17 per cent more than one year earlier.

A total of 4,784 new passenger cars were registered in February 2025, which was 11 per cent fewer than one year earlier.
