Building cost goes up slightly in March

Building costs rose by 0.3 per cent in the country in March 2017 from one year back, according to Statistics Finland.

The prices of materials went up by 1.1 per cent and the prices of services by 1.2 per cent. The prices of labour inputs in construction, in turn, fell by 0.9 per cent compared with March of the previous year.

The fall in the prices of labour inputs is explained by lower social security costs compared with 2016.

From February to March, the total index of building costs rose by 0.1 per cent. The prices of labour inputs and services remained unchanged from the previous month. Simultaneously, the prices of materials rose by 0.1 per cent.
