The Russian authorities have decided to resume goods transportation via Brusnitshnoje (Nuijamaa) under the Transports International Routeir (TIR) procedure as of 15 April 2018.

A regulation issued by the Russian Ministry of Finance has updated the list of the border-crossing points between Russia and third countries for TIR transports, said a press release issued by Finnish Customs.

The regulation published on 14 March 2018 will enter into force 30 days from that date.

The other possible border-crossing points for TIR transports on the Finnish-Russian border are Svetogorsk, Torfjanovka, Inari, Värtsilä, Suoperä, Lotta, Salla, and Lyttä.

In March 2014, the Russian customs authorities decided to close the TIR freight at the Vaalima border-crossing point. TIR is an international convention that exempts usual formalities such as custom duties and taxes and also aims to speed up freight movement across the border.
