Finland for solution of import tariffs row

President and the Ministerial Committee on Foreign and Security Policy on Friday observed that it is important to find a compatible solution regarding import tariffs with the rules of the international trade system, as not to jeopardise mutual trade.

The committee at a meeting also received the Security Committee’s report on the security of society, said an official press release.

The annual report noted that several significant incidents occurred in the international security environment in 2017 that increased instability, but that they did not have any actual impact on functions vital to society.

Preparedness at the national level progressed according to plan. Further improvements were deemed necessary especially in the management of cyber security and in the promotion of preparedness in the financial sector.

The committee also discussed the current situation in Russia and US foreign policy and transatlantic cooperation.

The relations between Europe and the United States remain central not only from the viewpoint of security but also from the point of view of the economy and trade.
