Olli Rehn to take over as Bank of Finland governor

The Parliamentary Supervisory Council has decided to propose to name of Olli Rehn, DPhil, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Finland as Governor of the Bank of Finland, said an official press release.
He will replace Erkki Liikanen who is scheduled to complete his second and final seven-year term at the end of June.
The new governor will take over the charge on July 12.
The council took the decision unanimously from among a total of 10 applicants for the post and the President will make the nomination based on the recommendation of the Government.
A lawmaker of ruling Suomen Keskusta (Centre Party of Finland), the 56-year-old Rehn had been elected lawmaker of European Parliament, and had served as the Minister of Economic Affairs and different key posts in EU.
