Wage, salary increase slightly

The nominal earnings of wage and salary earners rose by 1.0 per cent on average in January to March 2018 when compared to the respective period in 2017, according to Statistics Finland.

Real earnings rose by 0.3 per cent on average compared to the first quarter of the previous year, because the rise in earnings level was faster than that in consumer prices.

During the period from January–March 2017 to the respective period in 2018, the nominal earnings of wage and salary earners rose in the private sector by 1.2 per cent, in the central government sector by 0.6 per cent and in the local government sector by 0.5 per cent.
