Posti’s parcel deliveries rise 12% in H1

Parcel deliveries by the national postal and logistic operator Posti increased 12 per cent in January to June this year compared to that in the corresponding period of the previous year.

Posti delivered a record number of 20.9 million parcels in the first six months of this year driven by growth in online shopping, reported the national broadcaster Yle quoting Posti sources.

The number of addressed letters, however, decreased by five per cent year-on-year during the period.

Posti earned an operating profit of 6.1 million euros in the second quarter, although its net sales decreased to about 402 million euros.

According to Posti Chief Executive Heikki Malinen, net sales and profit for 2018 are expected to remain similar to 2017 or decrease slightly.
