Trade balance shows €15m surplus in June

The year-on-year value of Finnish exports increased four per cent and the value of imports two per cent in June, according to the preliminary statistics of international trade in goods provided by Finnish Customs.

The value of Finnish exports in June was almost 5.4 billion euros and the value of imports was slightly over 5.3 billion euros, said an official press release on Thursday.

Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports increased seven per cent and imports five per cent.

The trade balance showed a surplus of 15 million euros in June. Calculated from January to June there was a deficit of 735 million euros. In the same period last year, the balance of trade showed a deficit of 1.1 billion euros. Last year the trade balance for June showed a deficit of 105 million euros.

Exports to EU member states increased three per cent in June and to non-EU countries six per cent.

Imports from EU-countries decreased four per cent while imports from non-EU countries rose 14 per cent in June. Calculated from the beginning of the year, exports to both EU and non-EU countries increased seven per cent. In the same period, imports from EU member states rose five per cent and from other countries six per cent.
