Rovaniemi Snowmobile Fair attracts thousands of visitors

The two-day annual Snowmobile Fair concluded in the Lappi Arena, Rovaniemi on Sunday with thousands of visitors from different countries taking part.

The fair, organised by Lapin Kelekka Messut, served as a platform for different companies dealing in snowmobiles, tractors, winter suits and other winter accessories to showcase their products and advertise their newest lines of products for the new winter season.

The fair also ushers in the snowmobiling season which takes place mainly in the winter.

“This year’s exhibition has broken last year’s record in terms of the number of visitors. About 15,000 visitors came on the first day, while at least 5,000 visitors are expected today,” Lapin Kelekka Messut CEO MikkoVikstrom told the Daily Finland on the concluding day of the fair.

DF PhotoThe organisers said this is the biggest snowmobile fair in Europe, where, in addition to locals, people from different countries like Spain, Germany, Canada, France, and the USA come to visit.

He said about 150 companies including the biggest brands in Finland like Ski-Do, Yamaha, Polaris, Arctic Cat, and Lynx participated in the fair.

Yamaha Product Manager Tero Lehtoranta said their company is showcasing its new snowmobile products for 2019 with different designs, cleaner engines with lower emissions, and new engines which consume less fuel and oil.

Arctic Cat Service Engineer Juha Paloviita introduced the Alpha one traction system for snowmobiles with single beam suspension as their newest model which they are exhibiting among other products.

He said their company has been nominated for the Snowmobile of the Year award in the Unites States and they are excited to see how this new product fares in the market.

Polaris Sales Manager Mika Seppa said they are into snow mobiles, tractors and other snowmobile accessories. As the second biggest selling brand in Finland, they are at the exhibition to showcase their new 850CC snowmobile, which is better, stronger and has more power with two strokes engine.

Several old snowmobiles were for auction on the occasion outside the fair venue. On the sideline of the exhibition, different companies showcase disparate relevant goods, including winter clothes, jackets, sports equipment, and other necessary useful things in the fair every year. The event has gained popularity over the years and continues to get bigger. It has also turned into a traditional part of the opening of the snowmobile season in Lapland.
