Starting from April 2019, unemployed persons will be offered more opportunities to meet the activation model requirements, reported Finnish language daily Savon Sanomat.

The government on Friday adopted a decree, which widened range of categories of operators whose organised activities in supporting employment could be considered as activity to meet the requirements in the activation model.

The change, however, does not expand how the activity accumulates in the activation model.

Henceforth, activation can accumulate through activities organised for instance, by a municipality, joint municipal authority or a registered association receiving public funding.

In the activation model, the unemployment benefit is cut by 4.65 percent, if the unemployed person has not earned at least 18 hours of work in 3 months, earned 241 euros as an entrepreneur or participates in employment-promoting services for five days.
