Dacia achieves historical sales in 2018

The Romanian car brand Dacia achieved its best commercial performance in its history in 2018, with sales growth of 7 percent to 700,798 units in domestic and international markets, the carmaker said Friday in a statement.
Dacia has practically doubled its sales in just seven years. Thus, the threshold of 350,000 units was exceeded in 2012, that of 400,000 in 2013, that of 500,000 in 2014 and that of 600,000 in 2017, according to the Automobile Dacia SA, a subsidiary of the French Renault.
The brand consolidated its leadership in the local market with nearly 54,600 vehicles sold in 2018, an increase of 26.2 percent compared to the previous year.
Dacia also managed to increase its market share of new vehicle sales to over 30 percent, with each Dacia model becoming the leader in its respective market segment in 2018 as well.
On foreign markets, Dacia sales rose 5.5 percent to over 646,000 units in the past year.
The most outstanding performances was recorded in Europe, where Dacia sold more than 511,000 vehicles in 2018 and became the 14th best-selling brand on the continent, with a market share of 2.9 percent, or 0.27 percent more compared to the year of 2017.
Taken over by Renault in 1999, Dacia was relaunched in 2004 with the Logan model. Currently, the company's product line includes, in addition to Logan, Duster, Sandero, Dokker, Lodgy and their variants.
