Ford recalls 2019 Fusion Energi to improve high voltage protection

Ford on Tuesday issued a safety compliance recall for select 2019 Ford Fusion Energi sedans to improve high voltage protection.
The midsize, mildly restyled vehicles fail to meet the enhanced level of high voltage access protection required by U.S. Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 305, Ford said in a statement.
"This condition could allow contact with an uncovered high voltage fuse through a small gap behind the access panel," said Ford. "Contact with high voltage sources potentially increases the risk of injury."
However, Ford said it received no reports of accidents or injuries resulting from this problem.
This recall affects approximately 2,100 vehicles in the United States, which were built from Oct. 1, 2018 to Dec. 14, 2018 at Ford's Hermosillo assembly plant in Mexico. Ford dealers will install a cover over the high voltage battery electrical center to fix the problem.
