The use of poste restante service will still remain free of charge on March 1st, said postal service Posti in a press release.
Posti will postpone admitting charges for the use of the service because it wants to wait for statements from authorities before reaching a decision. The pick-up service will also remain free of charge.
"The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom) is currently exploring the issue. We have decided to postpone the introduction of the fee. We will also continue to investigate alternative solutions for the implementation of the special service," said Noora Laaksonen, head of Consumer Mail Business Unit at Posti.
Traficom is investigating whether introduction of fees violates the Postal Act.
Posti recently announced that it would introduce fees for use of poste restante and pick-up services. Posti had planned that the pick-up service will cost 3.10 euros per pick-up.
Poste restante is used by, for example, a lot of traveling customers, homeless people and other groups of people who need a temporary address.
