Helsinki will use a special postmark, designed specifically for Christmas greetings starting on Monday, said an official press release issued by postal and logistic services operator Posti.
This year, special postmarks are available for Christmas greetings for approximately two and a half weeks, every day from December 2 to December 18.
Mailboxes reserved for special postmark items can be found by the Helsinki main Posti entrances at Mannerheiminaukio 1 and Elielinaukio 2.
The postmark depicting a candle flame goes well with the Christmas stamp
The traditional Christmas postmark on a real Christmas greeting is extremely popular among customers.
Annually, the special Helsinki postmark decorates approximately 300,000 Christmas greetings.
Susanna Rumpu and Ari Lakaniemi have designed Helsinki’s Christmas postmark this year.
The postmark, which is adorned with a candle flame and beams of light, goes thematically well with the Christmas stamps designed by Virpi Pekkala, which depict elves and glowing lanterns.
Domestic Christmas greetings (EUR 1.10) with a Christmas no-value indicator stamp must be dropped off in a mailbox by midnight on December 11.
Christmas greetings with a domestic no-value indicator stamp (EUR 1.60) will be delivered by Christmas if they are mailed according to the mailbox emptying times by December 17.
