The people in Finland sent about 18 million Christmas cards through the national postal and logistic service operator Posti, said Posti in a press release on Monday.
The number is about 20% higher than that of last year.
Christmas parcel deliveries also broke all previous records. In Christmas season, about 7.7 million parcels were delivered to homes and Posti’s service points.
All Christmas cards and parcels were delivered to their recipients or to pickup and service points by 24 December, Christmas Eve.
Meanwhile, parcels arriving from abroad may be delayed due to the COVID-19 restrictions. International mail will also be sorted and delivered without delay upon arrival in Finland.
“This Christmas has gone well, and I would like to pass on my warm thanks to all of our customers. For us at Posti, Christmas is a matter of pride, and we get in the mood for Christmas thanks to our customers. There were more than 20,000 of us Christmas-makers on duty this Christmas,” said Posti’s Head of Christmas Operations Jarmo Ainasoja.
