Käärijä awarded rent-free apartment for 1 year

The City of Vantaa has given Finnish singer Käärijä, who became second in the Eurovision song contest 2023 a rent-free apartment for one year, said the city in a press release on Tuesday.

The city also awarded the Vantaa Medal to Jere Pöyhönen (Real name of Käärijä) for his success.

Tero Anttila, Deputy Mayor of the city (Urban Environment unit) handed over the keys of the apartment to the singer and the city will pay the rent of the apartment for the next one year while City Council leaders Sari Multala and Antti Lindtman handed over the Vantaa Medal.

Earlier, the musician expressed his interest to relocate himself to Vantaa where he spent a significant period in childhood.

Speaking on the occasion the singer said that he always feels very much homely atmosphere in Vantaa.

Käärijä became second in the grand final of the Eurovision 2023 last month with his song 'Cha Cha Cha'.
