National postal and logistic services operator Posti delivered 7 million parcels during the five busiest weeks of Christmas, said Posti in a press release on Monday.

“A lot of parcels have once again been delivered to parcel lockers, service points, and homes. Parcel lockers are popular, and we have served customers with over 100 new parcel lockers this Christmas season. We will keep working to make sure parcels always get delivered to their preferred pickup place,” said Kaj Kulp, responsible for Posti’s e-commerce services.

Meanwhile, more than 10 million Christmas cards were sent during the season.

“Christmas cards are an important part of Finnish Christmas celebrations, and it’s wonderful to see that the tradition is still going strong. Many have again decided to spread joy this Christmas with a traditional Christmas card,” said Sami Määttä, who is responsible for Posti's consumer letter services.

Christmas greetings that need an address clarification at Posti due to a wrong or incomplete address, and Christmas greetings that have been submitted to Posti after the last mailing dates of Christmas are estimated to be delivered by the New Year.

“Delivering Christmas mailings is a matter of honour to us, and all approximately 17,000 Posti employees in Finland and our other operating countries have been a part of this. A warm thank you to all our customers and Posti Christmas makers for a successful season. We wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,” said Jarmo Ainasoja, Head of Christmas of Posti.
