The Easter holidays have begun on Friday amidst comparatively warm atmosphere, which brought most people outside to enjoy the vacation in a leisurely mood.
On the first day of the vacation, people were found skiing, driving snowmobiles, ice-fishing, visiting parks and riversides with children, and preparing food in open places.
Some of the people, however, have left the cities for long-distance journeys inside the country and abroad, while some others have preferred to stay in the countryside to enjoy the holidays in a quiet atmosphere and seclusion.
The Daily Finland correspondents from the major cities of the country reported that many people were found to catch fishes inside the ice in frozen rivers and lakes, while a good number of people were driving snowmobiles and skiing on the ice.
Many parents also took their children to amusement parks and spent the day with fun and frolics.
Meanwhile, most of the offices, including bank and post offices, have remained closed since 6:00pm Thursday and will remain so until Tuesday morning.
As the shop-opening hours were deregulated last year, the shop and market authorities may keep the shops and markets open during the weekend as per their own opening schedules.
Alko shops had been open until 8:00pm on Thursday. The state alcohol outlets then closed for until its scheduled reopening on Tuesday.
Earlier, the Met Office said the Easter week would be comparatively warm and sunny all over the country. Although there was a little snowfall at some places for a while, most of the places are expected to experience sunny and warmer weather during the daytime.
The nighttime, however, is going to be frosty, with temperatures standing as low as minus 10 degrees Celsius in some areas.
