13 awarded President´s Life Saving Medals

President Sauli Niinistö on Wednesday awarded Life Saving Medals to thirteen persons for their contribution to save lives of other people.

A Life Saving Medal is given in recognition of a deed that has been very brave, resourceful or done while risking one’s own life, and which has resulted in saving another person’s life from danger, said a government press release.

The award winners are Ali Rezgi (rescuing from homicide), Antti Teivonen (rescuing from a burning car), Hannu Tapio Salminen (rescuing from a burning car), Kosti Juhani Lehto (rescuing from fire), Risto Olavi Pirttinen (rescuing from fire), Petri Einari Katajamäki (rescuing from fire), Veijo Aulis Ruotsalainen (rescuing from ice), Dimitri Palmi (rescuing from fire), Anna-Sofia Marjaana Airo (rescuing from water),Teemu Joonas Taneli Keravuori (rescuing from ice), Nouraddin Gajin Masoumi (rescuing from fire), Esmatollah Rezai (rescuing from water) and Ali Sina Heidari (rescuing from water).

The thirteen were selected from a list of 94 people proposed by the board formed earlier in this regard.
