Prime Minister Juha Sipilä will go on a working visit to Estonia on June 10, when Tallinn will organise a Finnish Day to celebrate the centenary of Finland’s independence.

Sipilä will hold a discussion with his Estonian counterpart Jüri Ratas during the visit, said an official press release.

As part of the “Finland 100” celebrations, the prime ministers of both the countries will also lead their teams in a football match and participate in a large public concert.

Among other things, the prime ministers will discuss the bilateral relations and co-operation between the two countries, especially in the fields of information technology, transport and energy. The agenda of the meeting will also include current EU affairs and international issues.

Sipilä and Ratas will also participate in a seminar of Finnish and Estonian companies.

The football teams led by the prime ministers will take part in the “Suomi – Eesti 100+ Challenge” under which more than 100 football, futsal and beach soccer matches will be held in the football fields of Southern Finland and Estonia. The matches comprise just one programme under the “Finland 100” events. Estonia will be celebrating its 100 years of independence next year.

The match between the prime minister’s offices of Finland and Estonia will kick off at 13.30 in the Snell Stadium (Toompuiestee 24) and is open to public.

Sipilä, head of the “Finland 100” delegation, and Ratas will also attend the “Finland 100” celebration concert scheduled to begin at the Freedom Square at 18.00, and express their thanks at the end of the concert. Finnish and Estonian pop and rock musicians will perform in the concert produced by the Finnish Institute in Estonia. The free concert is the main event of the “Finland 100” celebrations in Estonia.
