Helsinki University drops 11 notches in Shanghai Ranking

The University of Helsinki this year has been ranked 74th on the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), known as Shanghai Ranking.
The position of the university has been downgraded by 11 from the previous year’s place of 63rd and by 17 from the place of the 57th in 2018, according to the ARWU Ranking published on 15 August.
The Shanghai Ranking (ARWU) has ranked the thousand best universities in the world.
After the University of Helsinki, the best Finnish universities were the University of Turku and Alto University, ranked in the bracket of 301 to 400.
Harvard University ranked top on the list for the 18th consecutive year, followed by Stanford University, Cambridge University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the University of California, Princeton University, Columbia University, the California Institute of Technology, the University of Oxford, and the University of Chicago.
Of the Nordic universities, the most successful were the University of Copenhagen (33rd) and Karolinska Institutet (45th)
US universities dominated this year’s Top 1000 list with eight universities among the Top 10, with the remaining two coming from Europe.
