The Kremlin said Monday that a first-ever summit between Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) top leader Kim Jong Un is being prepared.
"I can confirm that the meeting is being prepared. We have been talking about this for a long time," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.
"As soon as there is complete clarity on the time and venue of this meeting, we will inform you. So far we cannot tell you anything concrete," he said.
Earlier on Monday, the South Korean Yonhap News Agency quoted unnamed sources as saying that Kim may meet with Putin at the end of April on the eve of or right after Putin's visit to Beijing.
During his trip to the DPRK on May 31 last year, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov extended Putin's invitation to Kim to visit Russia.
