Turkey's Defense Ministry said on Saturday that four Turkish soldiers were killed and six others were injured on Friday in operation against Kurdistan militants near the border with Iraq.
A military base was attacked on Friday night in Cukurca district in Turkey's southeastern province of Hakkari, Demiroren News Agency reported.
The Turkish military responded immediately with a "large-scale" and intense strike.
"The terrorists came under heavy fire from Turkish air operations and fire support," the ministry said in a statement.
The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU, resumed its 30-year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015 after a brief reconciliation period.
The Turkish military has been carrying out anti-terror operations against PKK in northern Iraq since July 2015 with main focus on Qandil region, where the group's main base is located.
