Ryanair, Europe's largest budget airline, handled a total of 13.5 million passengers in April 2019, up 10 percent or 1.2 million passengers more compared with the same month last year, the company revealed on Thursday.
Of the total number of passengers carried in April, 13 million people were handled by the headquarters of Ryanair Group while the remaining half a million passengers were handled by its subsidiary Lauda, it said.
Lauda is an Austrian low-cost carrier 75 percent owned by Ryanair.
In April, the load factor or the occupancy rate of the flights of Ryanair as a whole stood at 96 percent, said the airline, adding that over 75,000 flights were operated by the company in the month.
In another development, Ryanair has recently announced that it will open 14 new flight routes to and from Jordan starting in March.
Headquartered in Ireland, Ryanair mainly offers flight services within Europe and in parts of the Middle East and North Africa. The airline plans to increase its annual traffic to 150 million passengers in 2024.
