A man with a knife attacked the staff of the Rodina newspaper in southwest Russia's Stavropol City on Monday, injuring four people, Stavropol Regional Governor Vladimir Vladimirov said.
"Now the attacker has been detained and the police are taking all the necessary measures. I am confident that law enforcement officers will quickly sort out all the motives and circumstances, and justice will determine the punishment," Vladimirov said on Instagram.
He said that two of the injured have been discharged from hospital, while the lives of two others were not under threat.
One of the injured, Chief Editor of the Rodina newspaper Nikolai Bondarenko, told a local TV channel that the attacker entered the editorial office and demanded the newspaper publish an "outrageous" article.
When Bondarenko refused, the man took out a knife and wounded him and three others present.
"I understood that I was confronting a crazy man. But I didn't expect him to do what he did," Bondarenko said.
