A recent report showed that the pace of green shift within Norway's industry is too slow, news agency NTB reported Monday.

The preliminary investigation was conducted by consulting company EY that will present the full report in autumn.

According to Hanne Thornam, head of the project on behalf of Norwegian Ministry of Climate and Environment, the green shift in the Nordic country does not happen fast enough.

"Many industries demand more specific requirements and prohibitions from the authorities. For example, the trade industry wants a ban on food waste and deforestation, while the forest and wood industry want requirements for documentation of the environmental impact of building materials," Thornam said.

According to her, domestic shipping and financial industry have shown more understanding of climate issues.

Since 2014, government agency Innovation Norway's green projects which help reduce emissions have increased from 27 to 49 percent.

"It is a strong growth in a short time, but the challenges are great, and things are going too slowly," said Hakon Haugli, CEO of Innovation Norway.

The business community acknowledges necessity of sustainable running of business, and it is important to have close cooperation between business sector and the authorities in order to strengthen the work on export and internationalization, Haugli said.
