Four members of a family of five died while swimming on the northern coast of Cyprus, Cypriot media reported on Saturday.
The reports said that the family of five went into the sea to fight unusually high temperature, but they got into trouble because of big waves and strong currents.
The father aged 48, the mother, 40, an 18-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy were swept into a deep area and drowned, despite rescue efforts by other beachgoers.
A third child, aged 12, was saved and was transferred to hospital.
A 32-year-old man among the beachgoers who tried to rescue the family members was also overwhelmed by the waves and was also rushed to hospital.
